Here are the Midkemia novels reordered in chronological order, as well as I can render it. The "core story" is, of course, written in chronological order, but the other novels overlap. Daughter of the Empire falls pretty cleanly between the two halves of Magician as far as I can tell, but the events in Servant of the Empire span from Magician: Master through Silverthorn and A Darkness at Sethanon and beyond. I have therefore listed Servant as just following Sethanon, so the main events of the Riftwar Saga are not spoiled by Servant.
In Krondor: The Betrayal, the "Servant of the Empire" is mentioned, so the Riftwar Legacy should fall after Servant. However, it should fall before Mistress of the Empire, because clearly some of the big changes that occur therein have yet to befall in the Riftwar Legacy. The King's Buccaneer mentions the "Mistress of the Empire", so Mistress clearly falls before it, yet is Prince of the Blood before or after Mistress?
The Legends of the Riftwar all take place during the evends of Magician. Murder in LaMut takes place during the Siege of Crydee in Magician: Apprentice; Honoured Enemy falls cleanly after Magician: Apprentice and Daughter of the Empire; and Jimmy the Hand picks up Jimmy's story where it is left off during Magician: Master.
